Leicester City were never going to be able to replace the legend that is Jamie Vardy. Irreplaceable and irrepressible, indeed .
The talismanic forward remains the gold standard of a bygone era of excellence. However, the Foxes' recruitment department and hierarchy could have tried and done a whole lot better than they did.

The two choices presented at King Power Stadium last season were absolutely pathetic, to be totally candid. Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka - has City's frontline ever been less inspiring, more goalless, or more fundamentally impotent than when dominated by this imposter duo?
They have been a complete waste of space on the pitch. Between the two goalscoring disasters, when one subtracts the hollow statistics of tap-ins and penalties, they managed a paltry three or four decent moments between them all campaign respectively.
It is a complete joke of a strikeforce for a club of this stature. For those blissfully unaware of the finer details of the squad's disintegration, the Zambia international's contract expires next month - everyone should all pray for such small mercies.
According to a burgeoning report , Daka is now actively attempting to have his deal ripped up so he can facilitate an immediate move to another club. The supposed word from the inner sanctum suggests Daka has no intention of staying to rectify the wreckage of relegation; the feeling is certainly mutual from a weary and disillusioned fan base.

As the first of the proverbial rats scrambles for the exit, one can only hope that a superior replacement is sourced with more urgency than the listless recruitment that led the Foxes to this nadir to begin with. The ship is sinking, and for many, Daka's departure is the first necessary step in clearing the deck.
Spanish reports say he has no intention of renewing
When consulting the maths, the 27-year-old's tenure is an unmitigated a disaster: with 29 finishes at a cost of 23 million , he's 793,103.45-per-goal. And wasted no time in deserting Leicestershire, did he?
