On Wednesday, rookie running back Adam Randall returned to practice and could make his NFL debut on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills if he is activated from injured reserve. This could provide a boost to Baltimore's special teams unit. While players such as Chris Moore and Justice Hill have ripped off some big returns, those plays have been few and far between. The 6-foot-3 running back could give Baltimore another explosive option in the return game, utilizing the combination of size and speed that made him a tantalizing prospect coming out of Clemson.
Explosive Ability

Randall possesses an unusual combination of size and speed that could translate well to special teams. At 6-foot-3 and 232 pounds, with a 4.50-second 40-yard dash, he has the physical tools to become a different kind of kickoff returner. When thinking of return specialists, players such as Devin Hester and Dante Hall often come to mind, smaller athletes with incredible acceleration and quickness. Randall breaks that mold. Ravens special-teams coordinator Anthony Levine has acknowledged that ability and how it could be utilized on kick returns.
However, athleticism alone will not guarantee Randall a spot in Baltimore's return rotation. Levine also highlighted the importance of blocking as a unit, and even the most explosive returners can struggle if their teammates cannot create lanes for them to run through.
Furthermore, players such as LaJohntay Wester and Justice Hill have already contributed in the return game this season. Levine could experiment with different combinations to see who performs best in the role, but Randall will need to prove that his physical attributes can turn into actual production if he wants to earn regular opportunities.
