Freddy Peralta and the Tampa Bay Rays came out on top in his first time pitching against the New York Mets since getting traded to the American League East team.

Making his sixth start in a Rays uniform on Tuesday, Peralta had some sort of a revenge game against New York, as he pitched one of his best games of the season. The 30-year-old hurler tossed six innings of one-run ball, surrendering just three hits with zero walks, while tallying a total of seven strikeouts at the expense of his former teammates.
Asked about his emotions on the mound against his former team, the two-time All-Star Peralta gave an honest response .

"A little bit. At the end of the day, it's baseball. I was just competing out there. I saw some of the guys smiling when they saw me, but I was trying to stay focused," Peralta told reporters following the Rays' 6-2 victory.

Peralta and three Rays relievers joined forces to silence the Mets' offense, as New York went just 0-for-26 in the final eight innings of the contest.
Peralta has been traded twice since the calendar flipped to 2026. The Milwaukee Brewers sent him to the Mets in January along with Tobias Myers in exchange for Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat. In August, the Rays acquired him from New York for Aidan Smith, Emilien Pitre and Gary Gill Hill.
During his short stint with the Mets, he appeared in 22 games and posted a 5-9 record to go with a 4.99 ERA. He hasn't improved much with the Rays, but he lowered his ERA with Tampa Bay from 5.60 to 4.86 in that start versus the Mets.
