RB Jay Harris transfers to Kansas State after two seasons at Oregon
With the Oregon Ducks down to just two healthy running backs in the College Football Playoff Semifinal against the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers , redshirt junior running back Jay Harris produced his best performance in two seasons as a Duck — while officially being in the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-2, 224-pounder turned 19 touches into 67 yards and a touchdown, revealing himself as one of the lone bright spots for the Ducks on Friday night.
A couple days after Oregon's defeat, Harris has found a new home as he's officially signed with the Kansas State Wildcats . On3 Sports' Pete Nakos was the first to report the news.
Harris began his career as an unranked prospect at Division-II Northwest Missouri State, where he stood out immediately in totaling 1,381 yards and 23 touchdowns in 20 games, earning a Division-II All-American nod in 2023. From there, he transferred to Oregon.
Due to the overall talent and depth in the running back, Harris finished his Oregon career with just 52 carries for 186 yards and three touchdowns. He also added seven catches for 91 yards, with 32 receiving yards coming in the semifinal.
Now, for his final season of eligibility, Harris will compete for the starting nod in the backfield for the Wildcats. He is one of three Oregon running backs to have entered the portal thus far, as Makhi Hughes and Jayden Limar are the others.
