Real Madrid to appeal key defender's yellow card against Villarreal
The refereeing performance of Isidro Diaz de Mera during Real Madrid's match against Villarreal on Saturday night has come under heavy criticism from the Real Madrid camp .
Los Blancos were penalised for considerably more fouls than their opponents, and received significantly more cards, including a red card for Vinicius Jr.

The referee's decisions frustrated both the Real Madrid players and head coach Jose Mourinho, who repeatedly sought explanations, and was shown a yellow card.
One of the most controversial incidents involved Ibrahima Konate late in the game. The French defender faced Gerard Moreno in a one-on-one situation and successfully won the ball.
However, the referee judged that the Real Madrid summer signing had struck the Villarreal forward in the face and showed him a yellow card.

Now, according to MARCA , Real Madrid are now preparing to appeal Konaté's booking and ask the Technical Committee of Referees to overturn it.
Footage of the incident appears to clearly show that the defender made no contact with the Villarreal striker, prompting Real Madrid to challenge the decision.
The Spanish club strongly believe the available footage provides evidence that the yellow card was unwarranted and are confident that the caution will be overturned.
Another concern ahead of the Clasico
The appeal is particularly important because Konate is now just one yellow card away from a suspension.

If the booking stands and he receives another caution against Sevilla, he would miss the subsequent match against Barcelona, which would come as a major blow for Real Madrid.

With the Clasico approaching, Real Madrid are keen to have the decision reviewed and avoid the possibility of losing the French centre-back for one of the most important fixtures on their calendar.
As for Vinicius, the Merengues appear resigned to the fact that the Brazilian will be unavailable for the Clasico at the Spotify Camp Nou, as his red card and subsequent outburst at the referee could earn him a three or a four-match ban.
Nonetheless, there is anger within the club about the double standards and the inconsistency in the application of regulations by the match officials.
