Recently Waived Vikings Legend Lands with New Team
Things have gone downhill fast for the Minnesota Vikings . After spending a boatload of money this offseason , the product on the field has been terrible. Things have gotten so bad, in fact, that hometown hero Adam Thielen said he wanted out .
Minnesota traded for Thielen as depth just before the regular season started. He was a healthy scratch against the Seattle Seahawks , and the 4-8 Vikings let him walk to find a team that may win. The landing spot is quite an interesting one too.
Pittsburgh Steelers grab Adam Thielen
Adam Thielen left the Minnesota Vikings two years ago to sign with the Carolina Panthers . He wanted to come home believing the team had a chance to win. 11 games later he saw that wasn’t the case and now will be catching passes from Aaron Rodgers .

In 11 games with Minnesota, Thielen caught just eight passes for 69 yards . Despite four starts, he was hardly a part of the gameplan and never looked like more than an afterthought in the offense.
Thielen clarified what was assumed. This will be his final season. Ultimately he’ll return for the Minnesota Vikings and land in the Ring of Honor, but he’s chasing a ring for his final few games.
It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for Rodgers and the Steelers this year. The 42-year-old has a 6-5 record through 11 games while owning a 19/7 TD/INT ratio. Pittsburgh is 6-6 overall, but Rodgers is dealing with multiple fractures in his left wrist.
Last weekend Rodgers played against the Buffalo Bills . He went just 10-of-21 for 117 yards in a loss against the Buffalo Bills. The hope would be that he can continue to finish out the year, and Thielen provides another reliable target over the middle.
Desmond Ridder released by MN Vikings
Thielen wasn’t the only roster move the Minnesota Vikings made early on this week. They signed veteran quarterback Desmond Ridder ahead of last week’s game. With J.J. McCarthy trending towards a return , he was deemed unnecessary.
Ridder has completed multiple stints with the Vikings now, but has never been elevated to the active roster. With McCarthy on the mend, he’ll be backed up by Max Brosmer . The latter made his first NFL start on Sunday and threw four interceptions .
Minnesota has to be hoping that the quarterback position can be manned by McCarthy the rest of the way. That would require development and health from the former first round pic.
