The Boston Red Sox will play their 2026 regular season home-opener on Friday afternoon vs. the San Diego Padres and catcher Carlos Narvaez is back in the starting lineup.
"All set for the home opener!" the Red Sox's official account posted on Bluesky.
Narvaez started the team's first two games of the season against the Cincinnati Reds , going 3-for-6 with three singles and one run scored, before sitting out the series finale on Sunday.
The 27-year-old returned to the starting nine for Monday's road contest vs. the Houston Astros but was benched for the final two games of that series.
Narvaez will be catching rookie left-hander Connelly Early , who is turning 24 on Friday.
"An extra special day for Connelly 🎂," the Red Sox posted on Bluesky.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET.
