- Red Sox trade rumors: Latest update takes Rangers All-Star off board

"It served as a form of entertainment to the Rangers, who dismissed it as the kind of runaway rumor that can develop at the winter meetings," Wilson wrote Wednesday . " Boston officials might have seen that the Rangers are pinching pennies this offseason and figured it was worth a shot. And the inquiry was quickly shot down."
Seager hit 21 home runs last season and is a two-time World Series champion. The 31-year-old is under team control through 2031 after he signed a 10-year, $325 million deal with Texas in 2021.
The Red Sox have been connected to several infielders during the Winter Meetings including Ketel Marte , Pete Alonso , Alex Bregman and Isaac Paredes .
