The Cincinnati Reds are coming off back-to-back wins over the San Francisco Giants . They have won three of the last four, after the Reds' offense struggled three games in a row .
As the Reds' offense has been resurgent, part of the reason is the play of rookie Sal Stewart . After the game, Stewart spoke of his offensive outburst , per Caleb Noe of WCPO.
"Happy I had a good day today, but the game's over now … Tomorrow we've got to come out here & look for a sweep," Stewart said.
Stewart has been great this year, hitting .323 with a .434 OBP, both the best marks on the team. Meanwhile, he has hit seven home runs, with 17 RBIs, which are also marks that lead the Reds. Stewart is second on the team in runs scored with 13, just behind Elly De La Cruz . Still, Stewart is focused on what is ahead of him.
"What I did today and yesterday doesn't help what I do tomorrow … I haven't done anything. Realistically, I haven't," the 22-year-old added.
Stewart was the 32nd overall selection of the 2022 MLB Draft and began his professional career at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. He would spend 2023 at different Single-A levels before making his Double-A and Triple-A debuts in 2025. At the end of the 2025 campaign, he joined the Reds' major league roster. He hit just .255 with five home runs and eight RBIs in 18 games. He has already eclipsed those totals in his first 18 games this season.
Stewart has gone three for seven in the first two games of the series with the Giants, with three home runs and seven RBIs. He will look to continue his hot streak when the two finish the series on Thursday afternoon.
