In Kansas City, in the United States, the scoreboard stayed at 0-0 for Ecuador vs. Curaçao this Saturday (20), in the second round of Group E at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The situation, however, could have been different if an "old acquaintance" had not missed an unbelievable chance just two minutes into the match.
It was Enner Valencia , who found himself unmarked right on the edge of the six-yard box, but ended up being denied by Curaçao's goalkeeper.
The missed chance did not only bring back "good memories" for Fluminense fans and "nightmares" for Internacional fans because of the 2023 Copa Libertadores.
The foreign press, more specifically Argentina 's Diario Olé , posted an edited image of the World Cup play with the caption:
"WATCH OUT! Enner Valencia wasted a clear one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper right at the start of the match, and the ball went way off...".
