Report: Another Utah starter is entering the transfer portal

University of Utah wing Seydou Traore will reportedly enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.

The news came late Tuesday morning on the day that the transfer window first opened.

Traore, who has one year of eligibility remaining, previously played at Iowa for one year and at Manhattan for another prior to joining the Runnin’ Utes for the 2025-26 campaign.

The 6-foot-6 wing started all 31 games he played this past season for Utah, averaging 9.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists for Alex Jensen’s squad.

Traore scored a career-high 23 points in his Utes debut — an 84-75 win over San Jose State — and finished in double-figures 14 times, including a stretch in Big 12 play when he scored in double-figures seven times during a nine-game stretch.

For the second straight offseason, Utah is being heavily impacted by players entering the transfer portal — including Traore, there are now eight Utes who plan on entering the portal, according to various reports.

That includes two other starters, guard Terrence Brown and forward Keanu Dawes, as well as Ibi Traore, Josh Hayes , Alvin Jackson III, Jahki Howard and Elijah “Choppa” Moore.

The Division I men’s basketball transfer portal window officially opened Tuesday and will close April 21. Players are permitted to withdraw at any time and can commit to a new school at any point, but may only enter the transfer portal during this 15-day window.
