Report: Bills working on trade to acquire WR DJ Moore from the Bears

The Buffalo Bills ended the 2025 NFL season with another disappointment as they're trying to maximize quarterback Josh Allen 's prime window with the goal of winning a championship. Buffalo has been attempting to revamp the receiving corps around Allen to improve the passing attack and it seems like general manager Brandon Beane has found a way to boost the receiving room in a huge way.

According to multiple reports on Thursday, the Bills have traded for Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore shortly after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the two sides were working on the trade earlier in the day. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Bears are receiving a mid-round pick in return, but as of this writing, there hasn't been reporting on what the draft compensation is.

Moore, 28 , finished the 2025 campaign having caught 50-of-85 targets for 682 yards (13.6 yards per reception) and six touchdowns for the Bears. Chicago made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs and Moore was one of the players that quarterback Caleb Williams depended on in the postseason as he caught 11-of-15 targets for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite how important Moore has been to the Bears since they acquired him from the Carolina Panthers , he is coming off the worst season of his career since entering the league as a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. To that point, Moore is just three seasons removed from arguably his best season in the NFL when he totaled 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns during the 2023 season.

Moore joins a Bills team that seems to be on the cusp of breaking through to making its first Super Bowl appearance since the early 1990s with running back James Cook and wide receiver Khalil Shakir leading the way. Even if Moore isn't able to reclaim his absolute peak form, he should still be able to be a consistent target for Allen as Buffalo tries to achieve more under new head coach Joe Brady.
