Report: Everton Target La Liga Striker To Sort Problem Position
Everton Eye Orri Oskarsson as David Moyes Searches for January Firepower
Everton's need is obvious, urgent and impossible to dress up. Goals remain the hardest currency in the Premier League and David Moyes heads towards January with precious little cover up front. According to TEAMtalk , Everton are tracking Real Sociedad striker Orri Oskarsson as they weigh a winter move for a forward who has started to build a serious reputation in Spain and on the international stage.

It is easy to see why the interest has sharpened. Everton allowed Beto to leave for Fiorentina in the summer and never repaired the damage. A move for Folarin Balogun fell apart, a late effort to land Joshua Zirkzee failed, and the result has been a squad left alarmingly short in a part of the pitch where depth matters most. Thierno Barry has been left carrying the burden as the club's only recognised striker, and that is not a sustainable way to navigate a long season.
Orri Oskarsson Emerging as Everton Transfer Target
Oskarsson looks like the sort of name that quickly moves from scouting reports to serious boardroom discussion. The 22-year-old Iceland international joined Real Sociedad from FC Copenhagen in 2024 and has pushed on impressively. Last season brought nine LaLiga goals and silverware in the Copa del Rey, while this campaign has already offered more encouragement, with three goals in eight league appearances.
There is substance to the profile. At 6ft1in, he gives defenders something to think about physically, yet his game appears to carry the technical calm required to thrive in a demanding league. Everton have too often looked short of presence and certainty in attack. Oskarsson suggests both.

David Moyes Needs January Reinforcements
Moyes has always valued forwards who can occupy centre-halves, compete relentlessly and bring others into play. Oskarsson seems to fit much of that brief. He leads the line, he has a composure in front of goal that catches the eye, and his upward curve is hard to ignore. His impact for Iceland, where he has struck five times in six appearances this year, only adds to the sense that Everton would be buying into momentum as well as potential.

Of course, Everton are not operating alone. TEAMtalk reports that Tottenham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Brentford have all checked on his progress, which means any pursuit may become complicated quickly. Competition has a way of pushing prices up and patience down, and Everton know better than most how a transfer window can unravel when alternatives start disappearing.

Premier League Interest Could Test Everton Resolve
Yet this feels like the kind of chase Everton have to be in. Oskarsson may not arrive with the glamour of a marquee signing, but he carries the shape of a smart one, young enough to grow, proven enough to trust, and well suited to a side crying out for an extra edge in the final third. If Moyes wants a crucial addition, this would be a start.
Our View
This is exactly the kind of report that stirs a bit of hope. Everton do not need another window full of noise, half-plans and near-misses. They need a striker. A proper one. Someone who can take the weight off Thierno Barry and give the side a focal point when the game turns scrappy, tense and unforgiving.

Oskarsson sounds like a forward with real substance. He is producing in LaLiga, he is scoring for his country, and he seems to have that blend of physicality and calm that can carry over well to English football. Everton supporters have seen enough false starts in the market to know that interest means nothing without conviction, but if the club are serious then this is the sort of move worth making early and making decisively.
There is always a risk with a player stepping into the Premier League, but Everton cannot afford to stand still because of fear. The squad needs more threat, more depth and more belief in the box. Too often the build-up has led nowhere because there has not been enough quality or support through the middle.
If Moyes sees Oskarsson as the answer, then the club should back him. January is not a month for hesitation when a clear weakness has already been exposed. Everton have a chance to fix a problem that should have been solved in the summer. This time, they have to get it right.
