Liverpool Open to Wataru Endo Exit as Midfield Reshape Continues Under Andoni Iraola
Liverpool are prepared to consider offers for Wataru Endo before the transfer window closes, a development that points to further reshaping in midfield as Andoni Iraola continues to assess his squad. Credit for the update goes to Pete O'Rourke, who reported the latest on Endo's situation.

With under a month remaining in the window, Liverpool's summer has been watched closely. There was an expectation that significant surgery would follow a disappointing campaign, yet movement has been more measured than many anticipated. That does not mean the internal review has stopped. Far from it. Decisions are still being made, and Endo now appears to be one of the players whose future is genuinely in play.
As reported, "Liverpool are open to offers for Wataru Endo before the close of the window and have made clubs aware of his availability," journalist Pete O'Rourke shared via his personal X account.
Wataru Endo Future Tied to Liverpool Midfield Depth
This stance is understandable when viewed through the current midfield picture. Liverpool possess a strong cluster of central options, with Dominik Szoboszlai , Florian Wirtz , Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch expected to feature prominently. Curtis Jones and Trey Nyoni also add depth, while Stefan Bajcetic and James McConnell remain in the wider conversation.

In that context, Endo's place looks less secure than it once did. He offers experience, tactical discipline and versatility, but Liverpool's midfield now appears to be moving towards a younger and more dynamic profile. Squad building often comes down to balance, and when there is congestion in one department, sales can become necessary to create room elsewhere.
Transfer Window Signals Practical Liverpool Decision
Age and fitness are part of the equation too. Endo is now 34, and any return from a major injury naturally sharpens the focus on his role over the next 12 months. His contract runs until June 2027, which means Liverpool still hold some control over the situation, yet this may also be one of the last windows in which a sensible market solution can be found.
There is no suggestion that Liverpool are forcing an exit. The message is more nuanced than that. The club appear open, rather than actively pushing, which is often how these situations begin. If the right proposal arrives, there seems a realistic chance they will listen.

Andoni Iraola May Back Younger Options
Endo has had useful moments at Anfield and has often been valued for his reliability in difficult circumstances. He has also covered more than one position when required, a trait coaches tend to appreciate. Yet Liverpool may feel the pathway is clearer now for younger options to absorb those minutes, particularly in the holding role behind the more creative midfielders.
If Endo does depart, Liverpool would lose senior cover and leadership. They may also believe that Bajcetic or McConnell can help bridge that gap, while Iraola's broader tactical ideas could reduce the need for a like-for-like replacement. Either way, this is one to watch in the final weeks of the transfer window, because it says plenty about where Liverpool think their midfield is heading.
Our View
As Liverpool supporters, this is one of those reports that feels logical on paper, while still carrying an emotional edge. Endo has never hidden, never coasted and never treated the shirt lightly. Fans appreciate that. He came in with little fuss, gave everything and handled himself like a proper professional throughout.

At the same time, football moves quickly. If Iraola sees a younger, quicker midfield unit as central to the rebuild, then hard decisions have to follow. Endo is 34, and Liverpool cannot keep delaying difficult calls if the aim is to get back to the highest level. That is simply the reality of squad evolution.
The concern from a fan perspective is depth and know-how. Experience matters across a long season, especially when injuries hit and younger players are still developing. Endo brought calmness and structure in moments when Liverpool badly needed both. Letting him go only makes sense if the club are confident those qualities exist elsewhere in the group.
There will be supporters who feel he deserved another year, and that is a fair view. There will also be fans who see this as the right time to part ways. Both positions are understandable. What matters most is that Liverpool act with clarity. If Endo stays, he remains a trusted squad option. If he leaves, he should do so with respect, because he has earned that much.
