Report: Liverpool keen on move to sign 22-year-old midfielder
Liverpool Tracking Cher Ndour as Premier League Interest Builds Ahead of Potential 2027 Move
Liverpool are among the Premier League clubs continuing to monitor Fiorentina midfielder Cher Ndour, with TeamTalk reporting that the Merseyside club remain firmly interested in the Italy international as planning looks further ahead to 2027.

The 22-year-old is attracting significant attention again after an already well-travelled early career. Ndour has featured in Serie A, Ligue 1, the Portuguese top flight and in Turkey, a breadth of experience that gives recruitment departments plenty to consider. As the original report states, he has "already built an impressive CV despite his relatively young age", and that profile is part of what keeps him in focus.

Cher Ndour attracting wide Premier League attention
This is not a situation centred solely on Anfield. The report makes clear that " Aston Villa , Newcastle United , Brighton , Crystal Palace and Hull City all made enquiries about Ndour earlier this summer and remain attentive to his situation." That creates the sort of competitive background that often shapes a future market, even if no immediate deal is being pushed over the line.

Liverpool's interest is long standing. Ndour "has previously been linked with both Manchester United and Liverpool, and we understand the Merseysiders remain admirers of the midfielder." With Manchester United having already added Carlos Baleba , Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos , the emphasis in this piece falls more heavily on Liverpool's continued watch.
There is also fresh weight behind the admiration. Ndour "earned his first Italy cap earlier this year", an important step for a player long regarded as one of the more intriguing midfield prospects to emerge from Italy's youth system.
Fiorentina stance and 2027 transfer outlook
Any move would clearly require patience. Fiorentina are under no pressure to act now and, according to the report, "For now, however, Fiorentina remain in control of the situation and Ndour is focused on continuing his development in Italy." That is a notable line, because it reinforces the idea that this is a live piece of scouting rather than an imminent transfer chase.

There is another key layer to the picture. When Ndour joined Fiorentina in 2025 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain , the French club kept "a 50 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal." That clause could affect valuation, negotiation strategy and the appetite of all parties when the time comes.
Still, the direction of travel is clear. There is "growing belief among Premier League clubs that the midfielder could be available in the future, with 2027 potentially providing the opportunity for him to make the move to England ." For Liverpool, this feels like one to track closely rather than aggressively call early.
Our View
From a Liverpool perspective, this report lands in an interesting place. There is enough here to think the interest is genuine, especially with the line that Liverpool "remain admirers of the midfielder", but there is also enough distance in the timeline to leave supporters a bit unsure about what it really means today.

That uncertainty is probably the biggest feeling. Ndour clearly has pedigree, and the fact he has played in so many different countries by 22 suggests adaptability, confidence and a broad football education. Add in his first Italy cap, and it is easy to see why Liverpool would keep him on the radar. Supporters tend to like the sound of a midfielder who can grow into a high-level role rather than arrive as a finished article.
At the same time, 2027 is a long way off in football. Squad needs change quickly, managers evolve their preferences, and transfer markets move in unexpected directions. Under Andoni Iraola , Liverpool's midfield demands could look very different by then. So while Ndour may be a smart name to monitor, it is difficult to get too carried away at this stage.
There is also the issue of competition. If several Premier League clubs are already making enquiries, the price and complexity can rise fast, particularly with PSG holding that sell-on clause. Liverpool fans will know that admiration does not always become action.
So the mood is probably cautious interest. Ndour sounds talented, credible and worth watching, but this feels much more like groundwork than a developing deal. For now, supporters may file it under promising, but far from certain.
