Report: Liverpool are in the race to sign Serie A midfielder
Liverpool Tracking Cher Ndour as Premier League Interest Builds Ahead of Possible 2027 Move
Liverpool are among the clubs keeping a close watch on Cher Ndour, with the Fiorentina midfielder once again emerging as a name of interest in Premier League recruitment discussions. According to TeamTalk , the Merseyside club remain firmly in the mix as attention grows around the Italy international and his longer-term future.

The 22-year-old has already compiled a notably varied career path. Ndour has featured in Serie A with Fiorentina, while previous spells with Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain and Besiktas have taken him through Portugal , France and Turkey. That breadth of experience, at a relatively early stage of his career, helps explain why his profile continues to resonate with English clubs.
Cher Ndour attracting fresh Premier League attention
The key detail here is that Liverpool are not alone. The report states that "A host of Premier League clubs are again on the trail of Italian international Cher Ndour", with Liverpool "among those maintaining a strong interest in the Fiorentina midfielder". That wording matters. It suggests monitoring rather than active acceleration, but it also underlines that admiration has not faded.
There is added context in the market. "We can also confirm that Aston Villa , Newcastle United , Brighton , Crystal Palace and Hull City all made enquiries about Ndour earlier this summer and remain attentive to his situation." In other words, this is a competitive landscape and one in which the player's name is well established.

Liverpool's interest also sits against the backdrop of Ndour's progress with Italy. "The midfielder earned his first Italy cap earlier this year", a development that naturally adds weight to his standing. For clubs assessing trajectory as much as current output, international recognition is often a meaningful signal.
Fiorentina stance and PSG clause could shape any deal
Any move for Cher Ndour is unlikely to be straightforward. Fiorentina signed him in 2025 after his departure from PSG, with "the French giants retaining a 50 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal". Financial structures like that can become significant in future talks, particularly if multiple Premier League sides are involved and the valuation rises quickly.

For now, Fiorentina are described as being in control, while Ndour remains focused on his development in Italy. Still, the article adds that there is "growing belief among Premier League clubs that the midfielder could be available in the future, with 2027 potentially providing the opportunity for him to make the move to England ." That timeline feels important. This is not being framed as an imminent transfer, but as a situation developing in the background.
Liverpool transfer planning points to smart midfield monitoring
From Liverpool's perspective, this reads like classic succession planning. Ndour is a player with age, pedigree, versatility and upward momentum. The report says "Liverpool continue to keep Ndour under consideration", which is a measured phrase but one that often accompanies serious internal appreciation.
There is no indication of advanced negotiations at this stage. What does appear clear is that "Liverpool's continued admiration, combined with enquiries from Villa, Newcastle, Brighton, Palace and Hull, ensures Ndour's name remains firmly in Premier League recruitment circles." For now, that is the story, a talented midfielder, broad interest, and a possible opening in 2027.

Our View
From a Liverpool fan perspective, this feels like the kind of report that is worth filing away rather than getting carried away by. Cher Ndour clearly has an intriguing profile. At 22, with experience in four major European leagues and a first senior Italy cap already secured, there is substance to the interest. You do not get that level of attention across the Premier League without serious talent.
The most encouraging part is that Liverpool are still doing what top clubs should do, tracking emerging players well before the market reaches boiling point. If Ndour continues to grow at Fiorentina, a 2027 move could make plenty of sense. By then he may be more polished, more physically developed and more tactically ready for the demands of English football.
There is also a note of caution. A "50 per cent sell-on clause" in PSG's favour complicates everything. Fiorentina will want maximum value, PSG will be due a large cut, and rival interest could inflate the fee further. Liverpool supporters will know how quickly a sensible deal can become an expensive one.

Still, this sounds like a proper watch-list player. Not hype for hype's sake, but an intelligent midfield option with room to grow. If Liverpool believe he fits what Andoni Iraola wants in the longer term, keeping close tabs now could pay off later.
