Report: Steelers interview Saints coach for offensive coordinator job

This is interesting. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers will interview New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien for their offensive coordinator position under head coach Mike McCarthy. Tolzien played for McCarthy on the Green Bay Packers before working under him as an assistant coach on the Dallas Cowboys .

Tolzien was an important influence on Tyler Shough throughout his rookie year ; he spoke highly of the quarterback's development behind the scenes and the preparation Shough took to start once he replaced Spencer Rattler on top of the depth chart. If he moves on, he'll be missed.

But it's to be expected. Tolzien is taking opportunities like this interview and the assignment as an offensive coordinator at the Senior Bowl this week in hopes of advancing his career. If he can keep doing a good job and climb the ranks, he could be a head coach someday just like his bosses McCarthy and Kellen Moore. We'll keep an eye out for any developments on this front.
