The Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff, under head coach Andy Reid, has earned a reputation for their players' preparation and playing fast. A retired Pro Bowler recently credited the Chiefs' offseason program as the best in the league.
Former Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu , speaking on his podcast ' In the Bayou with Tyrann Mathieu ,' expressed his appreciation for Kansas City 's offseason program.
"The Kansas City Chiefs , you get so much work done with those people, like they don't waste any daylight, and you run. I mean, you run all day, but that's why, historically, bro, like lot of Andy Reid's teams, dudes start 6-0, 7-0," said Mathieu, "but a big part of that is that by the time the season got here, we were, like, in mid season farm because of the amount of work we put in, you know, the last three, four months, But that was like the best offseason program, by far. I mean, you just felt so ready by the time season got it, you know, like you've got that many reps in, you know, hands down."
During his three seasons in Kansas City, Mathieu started 47 games, recording 213 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, four fumble recoveries, 13 interceptions, 27 passes defended, and two defensive touchdowns. He was a key starter on the Super Bowl LV-winning team in the 2019 season.
