FOXBOROUGH - TreVeyon Henderson was one of the standouts at the Patriots workout Monday.
The rookie running back made a number of terrific plays - mostly catching the ball out of the backfield with either Drake Maye or Joshua Dobbs at the helm.
In all, he caught five passes, two from Maye, three from Dobbs. Three of his catches went for a touchdown, while he also rushed for one.
Mostly, Henderson showcased his ability to break past would-be defenders, and reel in the football.
Patriots lead back Rhamondre Stevenson, who spoke with the media following the workout, was asked what he would advise opposing linebackers trying to match up with Henderson down the road.
“They better be able to move,” Stevenson said. “Cuz, he’s fast.”
Stevenson said he’s been fielding questions from the rookie, and helping him learn the offense. He said he’s enjoyed getting to know the rookie.
Aside from his speed, what stands out most about him?
“He’s a competitor. He’s a great dude off the field, just any type of conversations,” Stevenson said of Henderson, who was taken in the second round. “He’s a a holy guy, you can talk to him about his faith, and stuff like that.”
Stevenson believes with the addition Henderson, that just adds more fire to the room.
“I think we all do everything. We’re all-every down backs,” Stevenson said, referencing everyone’s ability to run and catch the football. “I think we all bring something different to the table. I feel like we’re pretty diverse back there.”
