Unfortunately, Rice defensive back Daveon Hook left the Armed Forces Bowl in a stretcher this Friday.
Hook, a senior from Texas , has been part of Rice's football program since 2022. He was second on the team with 42 solo tackles during the 2024 season. Off the field, he has earned American Conference All-Academic honors twice.
During the third quarter of the Armed Forces Bowl, Hook tried to make a play after Texas State fumbled the football. However, he suffered direct contact to his head/neck area and fell to the ground.
Rice's medical staff immediately ran onto the field to give Hook immediate treatment. He was motionless for a few minutes before being taken off the field in a stretcher.
Thankfully, Hook was able to move his arms as he was leaving the field.

"That's scary," a second person commented. "I hope that Rice football player is okay."
"Terrible for Daveon Hook. Hope he's ok," another fan wrote.
"Prayers up for Daveon Cook," a social media user added.
ESPN announcers Lowell Galindo and Aaron Murray reported that Hook's family members are now by his side.
An official update on Hook's injury hasn't been revealed at this time.
We're hoping Hook makes a full and speedy recovery.
