The Colorado Rockies and Texas Rangers made an under-the-radar trade on Monday night.
According to his MLB transaction log , infielder Richie Martin was traded from the Rangers to the Rockies and assigned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Leo Morgenstern of MLB Trade Rumors reports there's no indication the Rockies sent a player to the Rangers in the exchange, and that the return was most likely cash.
Martin was a first-round pick of the Athletics in 2015. The 31-year-old has played parts of three seasons in the Majors with the Baltimore Orioles .
The results on the field haven't been tremendous, as Martin's .572 OPS and .212 batting average in 170 games leave much to be desired. The last time he played in MLB was in 2022 with the Orioles.

Since that time, Martin has signed minor league contracts with the Reds , Nationals, Angels, and Rangers.
Perhaps Colorado is the perfect place for Martin to get his first MLB action in four years. The Rockies are a rebuilding club and have nothing to lose by giving him a chance to show what he's got.
