Rockies broadcasters' 'sadness' after Xander Bogaerts' walk-off grand slam goes viral appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
Last night's Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres series opener at Petco Park was a wild contest. The game extended to the 12th inning for the longest game of the short 2026 season. Both teams had multiple opportunities to win the game before it reached the 12th inning, but chaos wouldn't allow it.
The Rockies were winners of four straight games as one of the hottest teams in the game. Many did not expect the Rockies to see much success at all once again, and while that may end up being the case, they have started 6-7 with a series sweep over a good Houston Astros team. Opposing teams have to respect the Rockies' effort and play.
The Rockies almost stole the series opener in San Diego on Thursday night; however, Xander Bogaerts hit a walk-off grand slam. As you would imagine, the Padres' broadcast was electric as all walk-off home run calls are, but for the Rockies, you could actually hear the sadness in the voice.
"Bellozo, if I may, is a crafty righty," the commentator said. "Everything is below the speed limit. He does get some roll-over ground balls – trying to get one here … not gunna happen, in fact, it's gunna be a walk-off grand slam."
"It took 12 innings. It was back and forth. The Rockies' 4-game winning streak ends in San Diego."
This call went viral.
Game 2 of the series is tonight with Tomoyuki Sugano on the bump for the Rockies and Walker Buehler starting for the Padres.
