Most of them are veterans holding out for a job despite below-average play in recent seasons. The Colorado Rockies , a rebuilding club that's not expected to be in the postseason race, could be a good landing spot for players in that situation.
Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer lists a former New York Yankees and New York Yankees right-handed starting pitcher as someone the NL West club could take a chance on.
Rockies named best landing spot for All-Star free agent
"Whether [Marcus] Stroman himself would agree with this is a fair question, but call it a case of worthwhile wishcasting on our part," Rymer wrote Tuesday, naming the Rockies as the best landing spot for Stroman.

The Yankees cut ties with the 34-year-old last season after he posted a 6.23 ERA with 44 hits allowed in nine starts. It was just three seasons ago that Stroman earned an All-Star selection with the Chicago Cubs .
"Even so, this is a guy with a history of having a chip on his shoulder. He also has a history of throwing strikes and getting ground balls, qualities that are never not useful," Rymer added.
Ground balls are what Stroman would need at a hitter-friendly Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The Rockies wouldn't have much to lose by giving him a swingman role.
