Carson Benge, welcome to the big leagues.
The Mets ' rookie right fielder didn't wait long to leave his mark in the debut taking Pirates reliever Justin Lawrence deep for a memorable first MLB hit.
The 23-year-old's solo shot went 385 feet to deep right center to make it a 10-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Francisco Alvarez followed with a homer of his own to extend the Opening Day lead.
Benge was all smiles as he emerged from the dugout for a curtain call to cheers from the Citi Field crowd.
It followed his first time on base, a fifth-inning walk in which he came around to score.

He struck out in his first two at-bats of the day, including a three-pitch whiff against Pittsburgh ace Paul Skenes in the first inning — the lone highlight on Skenes' day, with him getting yanked midway through the first inning.
