It was another excellent outing for a Royals starting pitcher, with Kris Bubic (1-0) going six innings, with two hits, one earned run, three walks and four strikeouts to go along with the win.
Bubic is first Royals starting pitcher to win a home opener since Brad Keller in 2019.
It is the third consecutive quality start for the Royals, with only one earned run allowed from Royals starting pitchers over the last three games.
John Schreiber got the save, as the Royals continue to monitor Carlos Esteves, who was in a walking boot after suffering an ankle contusion when he was hit by a baseball against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.
The win puts the Royals at 2-2. The team will get the day off Tuesday and continue its three-game series with the Twins on Wednesday at 6:40 p.m.
