The Buffalo Sabres are on the verge of moving on in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They have a three-game-to-two lead over the Boston Bruins in the first round. One of the reasons for the success this year has been the play of Sabres forward Alex Tuch .
As the Sabres get ready for Game 6 against the Bruins, Tuch is talking about playing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, per Matthew Bove of WKBW.
“This is what I think of when I think of hockey,” Tuch started with. “There’s nothing better. Honestly, and the whole world knows it too. Everyone is giving everything they have. Sacrificing their bodies.”
Tage Thompson also echoed the sentiment of Tuch.
“This is what it’s all about. The big games,” Thompson said. “Once you get that taste of winning, it’s a drug. It’s all you want.”
Tuch has been waiting to get back to the playoffs. He went to the playoffs four times in his time with the Vegas Golden Knights , including playing in the Stanley Cup Final in 2018. Still, he has not been back to the playoffs since 2021, his last season in Vegas.
Meanwhile, Thompson is playing in the playoffs for the first time in his career. He played one season with the St. Louis Blues before joining the Sabres in 2018-19. In that time, he never got to experience the playoffs.
Now, the two of them are leading the Sabres. Tuch has scored three goals and added three assists in five games. Meanwhile, Thompson has scored twice and added three assists. The two of them hope to will the Sabres to one more victory, in Game 6 in Boston on Friday night.
