Saints 2025 Year in Review: Rejzohn Wright quiet in crowded secondary

A young secondary for the New Orleans Saints stepped up quickly in the 2025 season. Rookies Quincy Riley , Jonas Sanker , and second-year Kool-Aid McKinstry had prominent roles for a defensive backfield that also contained another new face in free agent acquisition Justin Reid . They were tasked with replacing departed starters Marshon Lattimore , Paulson Adebo , Tyrann Mathieu , and Will Harris . Nevertheless, the new crew jelled almost immediately and helped the Saints to rank fourth in pass defense.

One young member got a little lost in the shuffle of new players. Rejzohn Wright arrived to the Saints late in the 2024 campaign and got a chance to contribute little last season. He'll have the odds stacked against him as the Saints enter the 2026 offseason.

Rejzohn Wright Year in Review

  • Position: Cornerback

  • Age: 25

  • Height: 6-feet, 2 inches

  • Weight: 193 pounds

  • NFL experience: 1 season (with Saints)

  • 2025 season: 4 games

After beginning his collegiate career at Laney College in California, Wright had 4 interceptions and 17 pass breakups his final two years with the Oregon State Beavers. He wasn't selected in the 2023 NFL draft, instead signing with the Carolina Panthers . The Panthers released him at the end of the 2024 preseason. He was subsequently picked up by the Raiders , where he spent part of the 2024 season on the practice squad with no playing time. New Orleans signed Wright to a reserve/future deal after that season.

Wright played well for the Saints during the 2025 preseason. However, the team placed him on season-ending injured reserve before the start of the regular season. He'd return to New Orleans last offseason. Again, he distinguished himself well. This time, New Orleans kept him on their active roster to start the year. He'd see special teams action in two of the first three weeks.

After getting on the field early, Wright got into just two of the Saints last 14 contests. He'd see no defensive snaps at a crowded position, getting a total of 35 snaps on special teams in four games. Wright has yet to record his first NFL tackle. He'll have his work cut out to earn a job at a crowded cornerback spot. Wright is under contract for 2026, with a cap hit of just over a million dollars. However, he's competing at a position with potential stars in McKinstry and Riley with a returning veteran in Isaac Yiadom along with potential moves in free agency and the draft to come.
