As speculated, the son of WWE legend Scott Steiner, New Orleans Saints player Brock Rechsteiner, was released — could he now make his way into professional wrestling?
Nick Underhill (via Pro Football Talk) reported that Rechsteiner was waived by the Saints during the team's final preseason roster cuts .
He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Saints after trying out at rookie minicamp. However, he was suspended by the NFL for violating its PED policy. That means if he is picked up by another NFL team, he would still have to serve the suspension.

It remains to be seen whether or not he will be picked up by another team. NFL teams had to cut their rosters down to 53 players before the regular season begins on Wednesday, Sep. 9.
Will ex-Saints player Brock Rechsteiner join WWE after his release?

Fans will have to wait and see what Rechsteiner's next move is. Previously, he joined WWE's Next in Line program while in college at Jacksonville State.
It feels inevitable that he eventually follows in his father's footsteps. Maybe he will hold out a little longer to see whether or not another NFL team is interested in him before hanging up the cleats.
His cousin, Bronson Rechsteiner (the son of Rick Steiner), is one of WWE's top stars under the ring name Bron Breakker. Maybe they will link up once Brock is in WWE.
Rechsteiner's release from the Saints won't surprise Dave Meltzer. The wrestling journalist previously said that he felt it was an inevitability that Rechsteiner joined WWE after his release from the Saints. Meltzer felt Rechsteiner, whom he dubbed a "great athlete," was a "long shot" to make the roster. He was right about that. Rechsteiner may now turn his attention to professional wrestling.
"But his future is probably WWE, and he's said as much as well," he said. "I think he's giving the football a shot. It's the exact same thing that Bronson had, where he wasn't suspended, obviously, but he was in the Ravens camp, and he was cut."
