Saints make their decision on fifth-year option with DT Bryan Bresee

Defensive lineman Bryan Bresee is having his fifth-year contract option picked up by the New Orleans Saints . This was first reported by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on Thursday morning. The option year means that Bresee will be under contract with the Saints through the 2027 season.

Bresee, just 24, played collegiately with the Clemson Tigers and was taken in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the 29th overall selection. The defensive tackle has played in 49 of a possible 51 regular-season games over his three-year career, playing 1,916 total defensive snaps.

In 2025, Bresee played 69% (668) of the team's defensive snaps over 15 games. He had 2.5 sacks and 5 tackles for loss among his career-best 37 total stops. Bresee also recorded 13 QB pressures, batted down three passes, and forced a fumble.

Over his three years with the Saints, Bresee has been the team's most consistent interior lineman. He has 14.5 sacks over those three seasons with 45 pressures and 19 tackles for loss with 12 passes batted down. Now under contract for at least the next two years, Bresee will continue to be one of the young core of a New Orleans defense that ranked ninth overall last season.
