- Seahawks select Iowa guard Beau Stephens in 5th round of 2026 NFL draft
The Seattle Seahawks did not have a fourth or fifth round pick to begin Saturday... and you just knew that wasn't going to last. General manager John Schneider, once again, worked his wizardry and found his way back into the fifth round. Seattle traded their fourth round pick for the 2027 NFL draft to move up. With their new pick, No. 148, the Seahawks addressed their offensive line by drafting All-American guard Beau Stephens from Iowa.
Beau Stephens is now reunited with former-and-now-current teammate Mason Richman , who was a seventh round at tackle selection for the Seahawks last year.

Here is what Beau Stephens' official draft profile has to say about him:
Stephens plays with a strong grasp for angles, tempo and timing for his block fits. He’s able to sustain and finish at a good rate despite having average play strength. However, his comfort level and consistency drop somewhat when working beyond inside/outside zone. He’s well-postured and plays with balance in pass pro. His lack of length will become more noticeable once he hits the pros, though. Short arms, average athleticism and scheme-friendly surroundings could temper his draft slotting, but Stephens has a chance to eventually become a starter if he finds the right team fit.
After spending both of their Day Two picks on defense, Seattle turned their attention back towards the offensive side of the ball. Beau Stephens will likely factor into a competition with Anthony Bradford for the starting right guard position this coming season.
