The Mets recorded just three hits in an 8-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night.
Here are the takeaways...
-- Sean Manaeadidn't have it against the Brewers' bats, allowing four runs through the first two innings and six overall on the night over 5.2 IP. It's his first start of fewer than six innings since July 18 and the first time he's allowed six earned runs since April 29.

Jackson Chouriohad his number all night long, singling on the first pitch of the game and scoring in a two-run first inning. Then in the second inning, a poor throw to first base with two outs extended the inning for Chourio to go deep and make it 4-0.
Manaea settled down for scoreless third and fourth innings, but Chourio singled to lead off the fifth and eventually came around to score on a groundout. He let up another leadoff hit in the sixth as Joey Ortiztripled off the wall in center, and then Cooper Prattdrove him in on a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 6-2. The lefty's night ended after allowing a double, having thrown 95 pitches.
-- Meanwhile, Jacob Misiorowskiretired the first seven Mets he faced (three strikeouts) before walking Christopher Morelwith one away in the third inning. The muddy mound caused the young star to slip a bit, as manager Pat Murphycame out to tell the umpires it's becoming an issue. The righty slipped again on a fastball to Francisco Alvarez, but got the inning-ending double play.
The grounds crew came out again in the bottom of the fourth to fix the mound and it must've helped as he struck out A.J. Ewingand Francisco Lindorbefore beating out Carson Bengeto first base to keep the Mets hitless through four innings.

-- After Luis Robert Jr.walked to lead off the fifth inning, Jared Youngrecorded New York's first hit against Misiorowski with an RBI double, as they trailed 5-1. Morel kept it going and drove in Young, who just beat the tag at home after the call was upheld on a challenge, making it 5-2.
-- Misiorowski's night ended after a 1-2-3 sixth inning, finishing after 6.0 IP and 89 pitches as the Mets had few answers against him. They recorded just two hits and struck out six times as his velocity was noticeably down due to the field and weather conditions.
-- Xzavion Curryreplaced Manaea in the sixth to face Chourio, winning the battle on a flyout. He hit a batter and walked another in the seventh but escaped the jam to keep the score intact. Chourio beat him in round two, smashing a two-run homer with two outs in the eighth inning to push the Milwaukee lead to 8-2.

After an 0-for-5 game in the series opener, Chourio got the day off Wednesday. The rest worked, as he went 4-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base.
