- Sean McVay Has Already Spoken to Aaron Donald About Joining Los Angeles Rams
Ever since the Los Angeles Rams traded for Myles Garrett on Monday, Aaron Donald rumors have been running wild. It didn't help that the future first-ballot Hall of Fame defensive tackle has since been pouring fuel on the fire by admitting that the Rams' adding the NFL's best defender has given him consideration to end his retirement at the age of 35.

But how realistic is that idea? Donald hasn't played in the NFL since the end of the 2023 season. That's two full years away from the most competitive level of football.

Yet, this is no average human.
The three-time Defensive Player of the Year burst out onto the scene with nine sacks as a rookie defensive tackle. In 2018, he led the NFL with 20.5 sacks. Even though he's been retired, Donald has remained in peak physical form, working out just as he did before.
But would the Rams even want Donald back? The answer to that question is an easy one.
Rams head coach Sean McVay has since admitted that he's spoken to Donald after the Garrett trade got completed. To no surprise, coach McVay would welcome Donald back to the team with open arms, if that was something the former DT wanted to pursue.

"Listen, if he's interested," McVay said. "Here's what I'll say: You talk to Aaron, and you see what he's saying about that. Here's what I would tell you guys overall, too: Aaron is a guy that I stay really close in touch with, and I know the respect that he has for Myles. Talked to him about the opportunity to bring [Garrett] on board. If Aaron decides he wants to dust 'em off at the age of 35, I bet you he can still do it at a pretty high clip."
Donald's last season came in 2023, when he started 16 games, recorded eight sacks, and was named a first-team All-Pro. McVay believes Donald could pick up right where he left off.
