SEATTLE — At the conclusion of the Washington Huskies football team's fifth day of fall training camp practice at Husky Stadium in Seattle, second-year wide receiver Dezmen Roebuck had an amazing grab to close out practice.

Being guarded step-for-step by third-year defensive back Rahshawn Clark, Roebuck turned toward his back shoulder to snag a pass from third-year quarterback Demond Williams Jr. to secure the touchdown grab.
The catch marked an excellent day of practice for Roebuck. He had another touchdown reception earlier in team drills in practice and several first-down catches throughout the day.
This fall camp has been a continued, arguably improved, showing of what Roebuck in the spring. He emerged as the top and most consistent target for Williams.
There were expectations for Roebuck in place already entering this offseason. Last year as a true freshman, he was second on the team in receiving yards. He reeled in 42 catches for 560 yards and seven touchdowns. He had the most amount of yards among the returning pass-catchers on the team this year. UW's leading receiver from last season, Denzel Boston, was picked in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns .

Roebuck, listed at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, moved from the outside to the slot this season.
The second-year receiver's performance this offseason has gone beyond stringing together solid practices and has excelled to the point where he is consistently the best player on the team on a day-to-day basis.
The expectations that head coach Jedd Fisch has for him is similar to another high-end pass catcher on a former team he oversaw.
"Dez is special," Fisch said after practice Tuesday. "He plays the same role Jacob Cowing did for us (with the Arizona Wildcats ). That was 90 catches two years in a row in 2022-23. It was, I think, 11 or 15 touchdowns one of those years and got him a fourth-round pick (in the NFL Draft). Dez plays that same role for us and I'm expecting great things from Dez. I think Dez has an enormous ceiling and he's also a wonderful kid. ... So excited to watch what he's going to do."

For reference of Fisch's expectations, Cowing caught 175 passes for 1,882 yards and 20 touchdowns from '22-23. If Roebuck is able to meet or exceed that, he would be one of the best slot receivers in the Big Ten, if not the country.
The Huskies still need to sort through some questions in the starting receiver room, but Roebuck isn't one of them and the connection between him and Williams is shaping out to be something special.
