The Denver Broncos have established one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, but perhaps the least talked-about member of that group is the man in the middle, center Luke Wattenberg .
A fifth-round pick out of Washington in 2022, Wattenberg has gone from a fringe roster guy to the team's starting center, and it seems like he'll hold that position for the foreseeable future. He has played in 51 games for the team with 29 starts.
The Broncos like what they see out of him and last November rewarded him with a four-year contract extension for his efforts. That was a signal that the team doesn't intend to make a change at the position for many years to come and after watching Lloyd Cushenberry leave in free agency following the 2023 season, the team wanted to avoid another guy choosing what they felt were greener pastures.
Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus feels the Broncos have one of the league's best centers, placing Wattenberg in the very respectable No. 10 spot on his recent rankings at the position.
"It was his ability in pass protection that gave Wattenberg notoriety in 2024, but it was his improvements as a run-blocker in 2025 that allowed him to break into the top 10 on this list," Cameron wrote for PFF . "Wattenberg recorded a 70.0-plus grade in both facets for the first time in his career, standing as one of just five players to accomplish that feat this past season."
Broncos fans would probably like to see their guy a bit higher on this list, but to be at No. 10 shows the growth and development of a player many didn't think could beat out Alex Forsyth for the starting job just two short summers ago, as he had been a backup up until that point.
Wattenberg has since cemented himself as the guy at one of the most important (and often overlooked) positions on the field.
