Seth Trimble is eligible to play for the Louisville men's basketball team in 2026-27. For the time being.
On Wednesday morning, Jefferson Circuit Court judge Brian Edwards granted a motion that added Trimble to an existing temporary restraining order against the NCAA. Louisville football player Jabari Mack is also a part of that TRO.

The news means that if the season started today, Trimble would be eligible to suit up for the Cards. But the North Carolina transfer isn't fully out of the woods yet.
As has happened in multiple other states, a stay could be granted that would automatically make all of the players included in the suit temporarily ineligible for competition. The Injunction could also be overturned by the court of appeals panel.
One other thing to keep an eye on: The federal case in Colorado — where the granted stay was the only reason Trimble was forced to join the case in Jefferson County to begin with — goes in front of the 10th Circuit court of appeals later this month. Oral arguments in that case are scheduled for Sept. 22, with a final decision expected a week or two after that. If that injunction is reinstated, Trimble, and all other members of the high school class of 2022, would immediately become eligible for competition.
