Shane Beamer Has Strong Reaction To $5 Million LaNorris Sellers Rumor
South Carolina has two of its best players returning for the 2026 college football season.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers and defensive end Dylan Stewart are coming back for another year after South Carolina only won four games during the 2025 season. The program didn't meet expectations, and head coach Shane Beamer doesn't want that to happen again next year.
A report from SportsTalk Media Network surfaced on Tuesday that the NIL deals signed by Sellers and Stewart will combine to cost about $5 million from South Carolina's rev share total, and Beamer quickly took to X to deny it.
"Sounds to me like you need some much better sources. This isn’t even remotely close to being true. #AnythingForClicks. #MerryChristmas," Beamer posted .
Sellers had a lot of hype surrounding him entering the 2025 season and was potentially a great season away from being one of the first quarterbacks selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, his season didn't go according to plan, as he finished with 2,437 yards passing, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
He has been the starter for the last two seasons and has been with the Gamecocks for three seasons.
Stewart has been with the Gamecocks for two seasons and finished 2025 with 33 total tackles, two passes defended, 4.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He has compiled 56 total tackles, three passes defended, 11 sacks and six forced fumbles during his Gamecocks career.
If both Sellers and Stewart have big 2026 seasons, they could go high in the 2027 NFL Draft. South Carolina fans hope that also helps improve the team's win-loss record.
