Buffalo Bills linebacker Shaq Thompson started at linebacker on Sunday. He went down with an neck injury on the second series against the Cleveland Browns .
Thompson was hurt in the first quarter while making a tackle on tight end Harold Fannin Jr.
Thompson received medical attention on the field before walking off under his own power. Thompson went into the blue medical tent and was initially listed as questionable to return. He stood on the sideline with his helmet on but did not return to the game.
Buffalo started Thompson and Matt Milano at linebacker to open the game despite captain Terrel Bernard returning from a three-game absence.

Thompson entered the game with 50 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in 10 games in 2025, his first season with the Bills after 11 seasons with the Carolina Panthers .
