Shilo Sanders has made his stance on coaching clear after his NFL career failed to take off, admitting that patience could keep him away from the sidelines.
The son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has instead explored music, acting and modelling since his time in the NFL came to an end.
Shilo went undrafted in 2025 before being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following their final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills .

Shilo Sanders explains why coaching is not for him
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Sanders admitted that he believes he could actually be a good coach but does not want the demands that come with the job.
"I don't have the patience to coach," Shilo said. "I would be a good coach because I'm an outside-the-box thinker, so I could easily scheme up plays that nobody will usually think of. And I'm a good problem solver, too. So I probably will be a good coach, but I don't have the patience, probably [have to be] up there and in that office all day. I ain't finna do that. … I can't; it takes up too much time."
His father is currently in his fourth season as Colorado's head coach, having taken on the task of rebuilding the Buffaloes after their 3-9 campaign in 2025.
Shilo's own NFL journey ended after he was ejected from Tampa Bay 's final preseason game for throwing a punch at Bills tight end Zach Davidson . Head coach Todd Bowles later called the incident "inexcusable".
The former safety has since turned towards other creative pursuits. He released his first album, Hate 2 Love , in January 2025 and followed it with World of Heartache in August 2026, featuring Deion and his brother Shedeur.
He has also appeared in the Starz series BMF , playing a younger version of his father.

Back in August, Shilo reflected on his future and said, "I feel like this is just part of my story to grow and do bigger and better things. Whether it's finding another team, whether it's getting another opportunity in the NFL, it is what it is."
For now, coaching appears unlikely to be part of that story. Shilo has previously said the end of his football career could have been a blessing and believes his path may lie elsewhere.
"I've always done that my whole life playing football with music, acting, and modeling. I truly believe God has a big plan for me," Sanders said.
