Skip Bayless found a way to pull the Dallas Cowboys into the U.S. Men's National Team's World Cup opener. Cowboys fans saw their team catch a stray during Team USA's 4-1 win over Paraguay on Friday night.

The USMNT looked sharp at Los Angeles Stadium under Mauricio Pochettino, while Paraguay spent the match chasing. Christian Pulisic helped create the opening goal, and Folarin Balogun scored twice in the first half.
The quick start gave Bayless an opening to connect the soccer performance to the Cowboys' defensive frustrations from last season.
Bayless posted on X, formerly Twitter, during the match and tied Team USA's strong showing to a pointed Cowboys comparison.
"I don't closely follow World Cup buildup, but from what I just saw, either Team USA is better than I expected – a true contender – or Paraguay's defense is no better than last year's Cowboys'."
The post worked because Bayless rarely misses a chance to mention Dallas. Even during a World Cup match, the Cowboys remained part of his running commentary.

The USA also gave him plenty to praise. Balogun became the first American with a first-half World Cup brace since 1930, giving the home side early control and a jolt of belief.
Gio Reyna later finished a 26-pass sequence in stoppage time, sealing the first four-goal World Cup match in USMNT history.
Still, Bayless' jab carried the loudest NFL angle. He framed Paraguay's defensive collapse as a reminder of how frustrated Dallas fans felt watching last year's group.
For the Cowboys, the offseason never truly leaves the spotlight. For Team USA, Bayless' post showed how quickly the home World Cup has pulled mainstream American sports voices into the conversation.
