Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham shared her thoughts on the franchise's front-office moves.
On Friday, Kelly Krauskopf officially stepped down as the Fever's team president, closing the chapter on her second stint with the franchise.
Krauskopf first joined the Fever ahead of their inaugural season in 2000. As president and general manager, she helped lead the team to 12 consecutive WNBA playoff appearances and a championship in 2012. She joined the Indiana Pacers in 2018 as assistant GM before returning to the Fever in 2024 as president of basketball and business operations.
Krauskopf advised the organization of her decision to leave before the season ended.
Hours after Krauskopf's resignation, the Fever fired their GM Amber Cox, marking a major shift in front-office leadership .
Cunningham, one of the team's stars, shared her thoughts about Indiana's offseason decision during a recent interview with Yahoo Sports.
"There was not a lot of warning, and that's okay," Cunningham said. "I think that's probably a good thing that you kind of keep it in-house a little bit.
"But you know what? Kelly and Amber, they're phenomenal, phenomenal people. They cared a lot about us as players and as individuals outside the court."
The departures leave Indiana searching for new front-office leadership ahead of an important offseason.
The 6-foot-1 guard praised the two former Fever executives and said she hopes their successors can serve the franchise well.
"And so I have nothing but great things to say about them," Cunningham added. "Hopefully the Fever come in and bring people who can do a really good job for that program.
"I was blessed to be under Kelly and Amber, and I hope them the very best, and so we'll see what happens."
The second-round pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft will enter free agency this offseason after spending the last two years with Indiana . There is currently no guarantee Cunningham will return to the Fever next season.
In 2026, she averaged 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22.2 minutes across 43 games.
