- Spencer Jones joins C.J. Miles as members of almost-Thunder club | Mussatto's Minutes
C.J. Miles was long the answer to a Thunder trivia question.
Who's the only player OKC has extended an offer sheet to in restricted free agency?
Now there are two answers to that question: Miles and Spencer Jones .

Eighteen years after the Thunder extended an offer sheet to Miles (which the Jazz matched), it did the same to Jones (which the Nuggets matched Sunday night).
Put them side-by-side in the would-be Thunder hall of fame.
In 2008, before the Thunder ever played a game, OKC presented Miles with a four-year, $14.8 million contract. The 21-year-old Jazz man, who was drafted out of Skyline High School in Dallas, was entering his fourth NBA season.

DENVER, COLORADO - DECEMBER 18: Spencer Jones #21of the Denver Nuggets dunks against the Orlando Magic in the fourth quarter at Ball Arena on December 18, 2025 in Denver, Colorado.
In restricted free agency, teams have the opportunity to match offers that a player receives from other teams.

Miles would have joined a young core of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green in Oklahoma City.
"And I'm gonna get to be the two-guard on this team, but I'm restricted," Miles said on the "Run Your Race" podcast in 2023. "(OKC) makes the offer. "Not that I was trying to get out (of Utah), I just thought I was gone. In my mind I'm like, 'I'm about to go be with some dogs that are my age.'"
Miles said he was upset for a "split second" when Utah matched. But that ensuing season is when his career took off. Miles became a full-time starter for the Jazz, averaging 9.1 points per game.
He played out the remainder of that four-year contract with the Jazz. Miles retired in 2022 after a 16-year NBA career. He played for seven teams. Never for the Thunder, though.

Jones, 25, is entering Year 3 with the Nuggets after playing five years at Stanford. The 6-foot-7 wing will return to Denver on the two-year, $12 million deal that OKC offered him.
Like Miles, Jones will have a story about the time he almost joined the Thunder.

Toughest SEC conference schedules
SEC teams will play a nine-game conference slate starting this season. We're using the SEC preseason media poll to determine strength of schedule for conference games only.

We're assigning values in reverse order of the projected standings. For example, a 16 for Georgia, which was picked to finish first. And a 1 for Arkansas, picked to finish last.
Here are the toughest schedules by highest-average point value. One major caveat: This exercise doesn't distinguish between home and away games.
1. Arkansas (9.7):The Razorbacks open conference play with Georgia and Texas A&M and close with Texas and LSU. A terribly difficult debut for first-year coach Ryan Silverfield.
T2. Mississippi State (9.3):The bottom-two teams in the conference, according to the preseason poll, have the two-hardest schedules. In part because they don't play themselves. Or each other.

T2. Oklahoma (9.3):OU's SEC schedule has ranked among the toughest in each of its three seasons in the conference. The Sooners play each of the projected top-four teams: Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
4. Missouri (9.1):Missouri will play Texas, Georgia and OU. All in November.
T5. Florida (8.9):Florida plays at Texas. The rest of the Gators' road schedule is manageable: at Auburn, at Missouri and at Kentucky. The Gators host the likes of Ole Miss and Georgia.
T5. Kentucky (8.9):The Wildcats will visit Norman for the first time since 1980.
7. Ole Miss (8.8):The Rebels host Lane Kiffin and LSU on Sept. 19. Get ready.

8. Auburn (8.6):The Tigers play a killer road schedule: at Tennessee, at Georgia, at Ole Miss, at Mississippi State, at Alabama.
9. Texas (8.4):The Longhorns will spend all of October in Texas. A bye week, Red River, vs. Florida, vs. Ole Miss, vs. Mississippi State.
10. Texas A&M (8.2):The Aggies close conference play against its old Big 12 foes: at OU, vs. Texas.
T11. LSU (8.1):The Tigers host Texas A&M the week after playing at Ole Miss.
T11. South Carolina (8.1):The Gamecocks play Kentucky, Mississippi State and Arkansas — teams 14, 15 and 16 in the SEC preseason poll.
T13. Alabama (7.8):At Kentucky, vs. South Carolina and at Mississippi State is a cushy start to conference play.

T13. Tennessee (7.8):Josh Heupel's Vols open against Texas, but the rest of the slate is manageable. By SEC standards.
15. Vanderbilt (7.7):The Commodores play Arkansas, Kentucky and Mississippi State over a four-week stretch.
16. Georgia (7.3):The perceived best team has the easiest schedule. The Bulldogs avoid the No. 1 team (themselves), the No. 2 team (Texas), the No. 4 team (Texas A&M) and the No. 5 team (LSU).
