PSG ended up having quite a busy summer, selling off a number of squad players and bringing in some top talents to replace them.
One player we hadn't heard about – but who was apparently considered by the Paris ians – was Atalanta 's Charles De Ketelaere . The elegant, upright attacker explained in an interview with La Derniere Heure that he had spoken to the French champions in the summer.
BRUGES – lr Presnel Kimpembe of Paris Saint-Germain, Charles de Ketelaere of Club Brugge during the UEFA Champions League match between Club Brugge and Paris Saint-Germain at the Jan Breydel Stadium on September 15, 2021 in Bruges, Belgium.
"There were clubs interested, but when you see the prices being paid in the current market, it isn't always easy to leave. I know that Atalanta were asking for a lot, I think it was around €50m."
"You have to find a team that will pay it. In the Premier League, there are several teams that can do it, but it didn't happen. I spoke with PSG but they ultimately chose Ferran Torres . I am happy at Atalanta. I know how important it is to be a starter following my adventure at AC Milan."
Torres is a far better profile for what PSG wanted than De Ketalaere, frankly. We can't imagine there was ever much of a contest between the two, especially given how well Luis Enrique knows and likes the Spaniard.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has not had his best start to the season, and some in France are blaming the departure of Bradley Barcola.
Kylian Mbappe has been speaking about his move to PSG, and how he had to go against his mother's wishes to complete it.
