Star Big 12 transfer joining Kansas Jayhawks

Bill Self and the Jayhawks are on the comeback trail after losing a couple of starters from last season in the transfer portal. The Topeka-Capital Journal reports Kansas has landed forward Keanu Dawes, formerly of Utah and Rice.

Dawes figures to help absorb the loss of Bryson Tiller, who left Kansas for Missouri. Although Dawes has a slighter frame, he averaged nearly nine rebounds per contest a year ago for the Utes.

He also offers a bit more in the scoring department, having averaged over 12 points per contest last season.

Dawes played his freshman season at Rice, where he started 23 games. He transferred to Utah for his sophomore and junior campaigns.

Kansas might not be done shopping for frontcourt players in the transfer portal, as Tiller and Flory Bidunga accounted for a lot of their rim protection a year ago.
