The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be facing someone other than what they are used to when they attack the right side of the Atlanta Falcons ' offensive line in 2026 and beyond.
That is because Atlanta Falcons right tackle Kaleb McGary announced his retirement through his agent on Wednesday. McGary was 31 years old and had played his entire NFL career with the Falcons after being drafted 31st overall in 2019. He started 92 games over that time frame and left an impression on the quarterbacks he worked with, specifically Matt Ryan , who is now in the team's front office.
Ryan shared a statement that said, "I truly enjoyed my time playing alongside Kaleb, hHe was an outstanding teammate and had a tremendous career as a Falcon. We are grateful for the impact he made on this organization, and we wish him nothing but the best in retirement."
As for how this impacts the Bucs, this means the team will be able to attack the blindside of either Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa with a less reliable blocker in place. The team signed former Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor shortly after the retirement news broke, who has not been playing up to his potential in recent years.
Perhaps that helps the Bucs this year, playing the Falcons before a long-term answer is found.
