In addition to veteran safety Jordan Whitehead 's visit, the Pittsburgh Steelers also hosted defensive back Eric Scott for a free-agent visit on Thursday.
Scott has no recorded statistics and has yet to make his official NFL on-field debut after being selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round (178th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.
As a rookie, he was inactive for every game of the season.
In 2024, he was passed on the depth chart by rookie Caelen Carson and third-year player Andrew Booth Jr. during training camp. He was waived by the Cowboys on Aug. 26.
Scott was claimed off of waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs a few days later. He spent the entire season on Kansas City's practice squad.
Scott signed a reserve/future contract with Kansas City in February of 2025. On Aug. 1, 2025, Scott was waived by the Chiefs with an injury designation. He has been out of the NFL ever since.
Scott, who stands at 6-foot-2, 202 pounds, recorded 78 total tackles, five interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, and 12 passes defended across 33 games at Southern Miss from 2020-22.
Before breaking out at Southern Miss, the Basehor, Kansas native spent his 2017 and 2018 seasons at Illinois State (appearing in four games as a backup) and played the 2019 season at Butler Community College (recording 11 tackles and two interceptions).
Scott scored a 8.69 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 293 out of 2222 cornerback from 1987 to 2023.
