The Pittsburgh Steelers have upgraded their roster, acquiring two players off waivers following Day 8 of training camp .
On Friday, the Steelers claimed two players off waivers: rookie tight end Lance Mason, who last played for the Seattle Seahawks , and wide receiver Colton Dowell , who last played for the San Francisco 49ers . To make room, the Steelers released tight end JJ Galbreath and wide receiver A.T. Perry.
Mason, who played with Wisconsin in 2025 and recorded 398 receiving yards and four touchdowns, signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft.
Dowell, who was drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Titans , played his first two seasons in the NFL with Tennessee before spending time with the Baltimore Ravens ' practice squad in 2025 and the San Francisco 49ers in 2026 via a reserve/future contract.
The Steelers have made multiple moves over the past few weeks to address their secondary, but their offense now receives some important training camp depth with the arrivals of Mason and Dowell.
