The Pittsburgh Steelers were the only team in the NFL to finish 10-7 last season, a record that’s become a running joke for Mike McCarthy’s team.
The Steelers have finished with nine or ten regular-season wins each go-round since 2021.
“Over the years, I have found that hope takes two forms for fans around the NFL — 10-7,” NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt said Thursday night. “Teams that were bad last year? Going 10-7. Teams that were great last year are going 10-7. All roads lead to 10 wins. Not 11-6. That’s too greedy. Not 9-8, though, that’s not enough.”
Fans have predicted that the New York Jets , Washington Commanders , Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers will go 10-7. For some teams, such as Aaron Glenn’s Jets, the record is attractive. The Jets haven’t had a double-digit-win season since 2016, and only once since reaching the AFC Championship Game during the 2010 campaign.
“10-7 is safe. It’s a friend,” Brandt said Thursday night. “And 10-7 is that magical word for so many young, single people — 10-7 is attainable. If you believe hard enough, you can imagine a world where you and 10-7 end up together. 10-7 is lovely, likable, talented, wonderful, family. It’s the Anna Kendrick of records. It’s not some ridiculous Megan Fox 15-2 pipe dream. So, 10-7 nation, dream big tonight. Relish in your 10-7 fantasies. Most of them will be dead by October, if not September, but that’s OK.
“It’s May. May is for hope, and you will not have a perfect season, but you just might have a perfect 10.”
