While the Pittsburgh Steelers are in one of the quietest parts of the offseason, one piece of trade speculation has connected the Steel City brand of football to a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles .
According to Sports Illustrated's Jack Markowski, the Steelers could be an ideal landing spot for Eagles All-Pro defensive tackle Jalen Carter , potentially sending Keeanu Benton and a few picks to make the deal possible.
"It's hard to fathom Philadelphia letting Carter leave, which is why any trade speculation is extremely premature, but the Steelers could put together an enticing offer for him if they are also comfortable handing him a record-setting contract," Markowski wrote. "Benton is not close to the same level of player that Carter is. With that said, packaging him and a first-round pick, perhaps even two, could seal the deal."
Markowski also pointed out that while this trade speculation is entirely hypothetical, if Carter's trade price isn't as high as believed, the Steelers could be a team to look out for.
The Steelers already overhauled their defensive line over the past two offseasons, but Pittsburgh would be wise not to pass on a generational talent like Carter, if Philadelphia began to shop him, that is.
