Connor Heyward spent the first four seasons of his NFL career alongside his older brother, Cam, with the Pittsburgh Steelers . The siblings are parting ways, as according to Ian Rapoport, the younger Heyward, a tight end, has agreed to a two-year, $5.5 max value deal with the Las Vegas Raiders . He's guaranteed to make $2 million.
"The Steelers wanted Heyward back, but Klint Kubiak wants him as his FB for what he's building in Vegas," Rapoport wrote .
After Calvin Austin III left to join the New York Giants earlier in the day, Heyward was briefly the last remaining draftee from the Steelers' 2022 class.
That group included first-round quarterback Kenny Pickett , who was traded away after two seasons in Pittsburgh and signed with the Carolina Panthers earlier this week, and volatile receiver George Pickens , now with the Dallas Cowboys . Heyward was a sixth-round pick.
Heyward played in 68 games for the Steelers, catching 44 passes for 379 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, he took snaps when Pittsburgh called its tush push play, picking up 43 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
Earlier this week, the Steelers signed Cam Heyward to a new two-year contract ahead of his 16th professional go-round.
