The Pittsburgh Steelers have released veteran cornerback D'Shawn Jamison as the team continues working its way toward the initial 53-man roster.
Jamison served primarily as a depth option in the secondary and on the practice squad the last two seasons. He also received opportunities to be elevated to the active roster when the Steelers needed additional help at cornerback.
He was elevated from the Steelers' practice squad ahead of of the Wild Card playoff loss to the Houston Texans . He was called up three other times, playing on the Steelers' special teams units against the Cincinnati Bengals (Nov. 16), Cleveland Browns (Dec. 28) and Baltimore Ravens (Jan. 4). He got work covering kicks and punts, along with running one kick back himself, gaining 20 yards.
Jamison signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers in January.

The former Texas defensive back originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers before eventually making his way to Pittsburgh.
Jamison came into training camp competing for one of the final spots in a crowded cornerback room. With several players fighting for similar depth and special teams roles, the numbers ultimately made his path to the roster difficult.
His release is another move in what figures to be a busy stretch for Pittsburgh as the Steelers continue cutting down the roster.
